Scope

Based on the previous analysis focus in Egypt

Benefits of Project

After carrying out a global analysis in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia. A more detailed analysis has been carried out in Egypt to identify local manufacturing potential specifically for Kom Ombo project.

The project comprises:

  • A detailed assessment of Egypt's existing manufacturing base and its potential to participate or dominate the solar component manufacturing value chains: Egypt existing manufacturing competitiveness. Potential areas on the solar component manufacturing value chains for Egypt.
  • Potential applications of solar technology, solar component and/or solar energy in residential, commercial, governmental and industrial sectors.
  • Potential economic costs and benefits-including job creation-that could result from enlarging solar component manufacturing in Egypt.
  • Make recommendations for a road map for development of solar industry in Egypt.

Both the large scale applications (solar power plants), medium size (solar desalinization and process heat) and small scale applications (roof top PV, solar pumping, solar heating and cooling) have been analyzed.

Colaboration

The analysis has been done in collaboration with the local industry, academia, government focusing on identifying:

  • Market opportunities.
  • Restrictions and barriers.
  • Key projects and actions that can start the business and the market.

Both the large scale applications (solar power plants), medium size (solar desalinization and process heat) and small scale applications (roof top PV, solar pumping, solar heating and cooling) have been analyzed.
